What you need to do if you receive a reminder notice for Council Tax.

If you don’t pay your Council Tax on time we will send you a reminder notice. This will tell you to make a payment within seven days and make future payments on time.

If you pay the reminder notice and then miss a further instalment within the same financial year a second reminder will be issued.

You will only get a maximum of two reminder notices in a financial year before further recovery action is taken. The financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March of the next year.

If you do not bring your account up to date following a reminder or miss a payment for the third time in a financial year a final notice will be issued. When a final notice is issued you lose the right to instalments, and you must pay the whole year’s Council Tax.

If you have had a reminder letter from us because you have not paid your council tax bill, you can:

You can spread your payments over 12 months instead of the usual 10 to reduce the amount you are asked to pay on each bill.
