School bullying

If bullying or harassment occurs in our schools, we are committed to ensuring that our children, young people and families are supported.

If your child is being bullied

If your child is being bullied, the school should provide a chance for you to discuss the problem and find a solution. The school should also have policies and strategies in place relating to bullying.

If you've spoken to the school but it hasn't made a difference, phone the North Yorkshire parental advice line on 0300 131 2 131. You will be offered guidance on what you could do next and what other support might be available.

Bullying support from charities and organisations

Bullying takes many forms, including texting and online abuse, often called cyberbullying. There are charities and organisations that can offer additional support.

ChildLine has a free 24-hour helpline, 0800 1111, where your child can contact counsellors who will help them to find ways to sort things out. The Advisory Centre for Education is an independent advice centre for parents. It has a free telephone advice line, 0300 0115 142, and can advise on many subjects, including exclusion from school, bullying, special educational needs and school admission appeals.
