Registering a food business

Food businesses in North Yorkshire must be registered with us in order to comply with United Kingdom law.

This includes market stalls, restaurants, hotels, shops, canteens, delivery vehicles and other moveable structures.

Anyone wanting to set up a new food business should register at least 28 days before starting to trade.

You can do this with us online for free and once you have registered, you only need to notify us if:

  • there is a change of owner
  • the nature of the business changes
  • there is a change of the address at which moveable premises are kept
