This service is delivered differently in each area of the county. This information relates to the former district of Richmondshire. Looking for information in another area of the county? You can change the location here.

Residents in the Richmondshire area can access our Lifeline and telecare service, a 24 hour support service that helps you to stay safe and independent in your own home.

How it works

We give you a device that connects to your telephone and a call button that you wear around your neck or on your wrist in your home.

Our trained mobile wardens can be sent to customers in emergency situations.

You can also add extra Telecare equipment to your Lifeline service. Telecare equipment can monitor certain situations and automatically raise an alarm.

Our staff will be able to advise which telecare equipment is suitable for you. This could include:

  • smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
  • heat detectors
  • flood detectors
  • fall detectors
  • bogus alarms

Costs

Telecare equipment costs 75p per item per week. No VAT is charged for telecare equipment.

The Lifeline emergency response service costs £6.50 per week, plus VAT. (£7.80 per week including VAT)

If you are disabled or have a long-term illness, you will not be charged VAT on products designed or adapted for your own personal or domestic use.
