We are looking to appoint registered managers and deputy manager and team leaders who will help us lead and further transform directly provided adult social care services.

Key service priorities

In order to meet this ambition, we must deliver on our key service priorities:  

  1. Prevention – supporting people to live longer, healthier lives, independently in their own homes by preventing, reducing and delaying the need for longer-term social care services. 
  2. Extra care and supported housing – expanding the scale and scope of the programme to provide opportunities for more people in different parts of the county to live more independently and to provide wraparound health and social care services to support the discharge to assess pathway. 
  3. Strength-based approach – embedding the approach to work with people to help them draw on their strengths and assets, including what others around them, in their relationships and their communities, are, or could be, doing to support them. 
  4. Integration – working with the NHS to develop integrated models of commissioning and service delivery in each area of North Yorkshire, to ensure that the people of North Yorkshire have a cost-efficient, effective and joined-up health and social care provision. 
  5. Care Market – working with a range of organisations from the health, independent and voluntary sectors to develop a sustainable, diverse and innovative care market that meets the varied needs of the people of North Yorkshire and ensures quality and dignity for all. 
  6. Workforce – ensuring social care teams have a full complement of staff with the right mix of skills and experience to fulfil the roles required for the new delivery model to operate effectively. 
  7. Technology – exploiting opportunities for the innovative use of technology to support people to maintain their independence and wellbeing.

There are significant challenges in delivering high-quality, accessible, equitable services across this large geographical area and its dispersed population. We need to continue to embed personalisation, modernise services and develop closer working  relationships with the NHS and provider partners.

Demand for public services is growing as people live longer and the number of people with complex and long-term conditions, such as dementia, increases. People who are 65 years old and over makeup 24.7% of our population. This compares to 18.4% of the population of England as a whole. 

Integration, partnership working, blended and locality-based approaches to care are key to overcoming some of the challenges and delivering high-quality care services in the most effective way.  

We are looking for people with the resilience, potential, leadership and the drive to meet challenges head-on. We need people with the ability to work successfully with key stakeholders and take managers and staff with them. You must have a strong performance focus to realise our service imperatives.

We are looking for strategic leaders to help us to realise our ambition by delivering a truly integrated, collaborative and supportive local health and social care system.

In many ways, we are at the start of a journey as we build back better services post COVID and adapt to the future needs of social care. This presents you with an exciting prospect to help shape, lead and influence our service.

Living and working in North Yorkshire

North Yorkshire is a thriving county, which is a special place for everyone to live, work and visit.

It is a stunning place with happy and safe communities and excellent education. Over the past two years, the new national crime figures have revealed that the region has some of lowest crime rates in the country. It is rich in history and culture, in a backdrop of outstanding natural beauty, vibrant cities, market towns, quaint villages, and stunning rural and coastal landscapes. We can also boast of having three towns in the top ten of the UK Halifax quality of life survey.

In addition, the county benefits from excellent road and rail links, with easy access via the east coast mainline, the A1(M) and A19. Leeds, York, Newcastle, Durham and Teesside are all easily commutable, and London and Edinburgh are just two hours away by train.

As a whole North Yorkshire offers a high standard of living working in a stunning location as well as great employment opportunities for your family members along with a higher proportion of schools, which are good or outstanding compared to national figures.

All of our roles allow a flexible approach to working. Whilst work can be undertaken from your home base, there will be a requirement to attend the office on occasions due to service needs. While virtual working is promoted as a modern and efficient way of delivering services, the need for face-to-face visits will also be required at times, depending on the needs and circumstances of the individual you are working with.

With this flexibility in mind, we encourage applicants to apply who might wish to work more flexibly or alternative hours, for example, only weekends.
