Northallerton market takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Apply for a market pitch

To apply for a pitch, you will need to complete the relevant market trading application form:

  •  market trading application form (pdf / 201 KB)
  •  market trading food application form (pdf / 103 KB)

Market fees

The following table shows the fees for each market per day. These fees apply to traditional bench stalls, walk-in stalls, gazebos and mobiles (trailer or vehicle-based).

The market fees are based on the measurement of the pitch frontage, with pitches having a minimum width of four metres (13 feet). Frontage over four metres is charged per 0.5 metre.

Casual traders

You must be 16 or over to apply for a market pitch.

The council reserves the right to refuse admission to the market to casual traders who offer goods or services which in the opinion of the Market Officer upsets the balance of trading already in existence for these types of goods.  

To guarantee a pitch to trade on the market, applications need to be submitted at least two working days before market day.

Once your details have been submitted, please wait for a confirmation email before turning up to trade.

  • you must bring original documents to show that you have the right to live and work in the UK, for example passport, birth certificate, share code

Before attending the market, please e-mail us:

  • your £5 million public liability insurance document

You cannot have pitch at our market if you do not provide these documents before the date of your enquiry.

Selling food

If you wish to sell food at Northallerton market, in addition to completing our market trading food application form, by law you will also need to be registered with us. For further details, read our  food business registration information (pdf / 164 KB).

Charity stalls

We offer charity and promotional pitches at all our markets. Charges will be determined on an individual basis.

What information do I need to provide when applying for a pitch?

All market traders and those representing charities/volunteer groups will need to provide:

  • a copy of your public liability insurance certificate (this must provide cover for up to £5 million)
  • Proof to Work in the UK (Passport, Birth Certificate or Share Code)

After applying you will receive a confirmation email which you will need to bring with you on the day, along with your insurance certificate.
