Thrills, wildlife and water fun on the Yorkshire coast

Here’s your chance to win a family day out at Flamingo Land Resort or a relaxing session at the Alpamare Water Park.

Flamingo Land combines the thrills of a theme park, the wonders of a zoo and the comfort of a family holiday village, all in one destination. With rides for all ages, daily shows from talented performers and more than 140 species of animals to discover, it’s the perfect mix of excitement and discovery for a day trip or a short break.

Thrill-seekers won’t be disappointed at Flamingo Land, which is home to high-adrenaline rides such as Sik, the park’s newest rollercoaster with 10 jaw-dropping inversions, the UK’s fastest motorbike launch coaster, Velocity and the wild, twisting turns of Twistosaurus. Younger visitors can enjoy a wide range of child-friendly rides, adventure playgrounds and the chance to meet Peter Rabbit. There’s something for every age, interest and energy level.

The zoo is a highlight in its own right. It’s home to more than 140 animal species from across the globe, from majestic lions and tigers to curious meerkats and playful penguins. Educational talks and feeding demonstrations run throughout the day, offering fascinating insights into the lives of these amazing creatures and the conservation efforts that help protect them.

To make your visit even more memorable, there’s the chance to stay at the Flamingo Land Holiday Village, where a variety of accommodation is available, from spacious lodges and caravans to beautiful holiday cottages. With a Splash Zone leisure centre and a wide choice of food and drink on site, everything you need for a fun and easy family getaway is right on your doorstep.

Over in Scarborough, Alpamare is more than just a water park, it’s an unforgettable experience for all ages. With thrilling slides, wave pools and outdoor heated infinity pools overlooking the Yorkshire coast, it's a place to make memories, whether you’re splashing about or soaking up the view.

Alpamare’s wellness spa is the ultimate escape for those seeking peace and restoration. The Classic Nordic Sauna offers dry heat and panoramic views over Scarborough’s stunning North Bay, giving you space to unwind, detox and reconnect with nature in total serenity.

The spa also features experiences such as the hay bath, filled with the warm scent of hay harvested from North Yorkshire pastures and ice and aroma showers, which use chromo-aromatherapy to relax the body and ease tension. For something truly special, try the Aufguss ceremony, a traditional German ritual where essential oil-infused steam is rhythmically circulated by our Aufgussmeister, followed by a refreshing cold rinse and rest to release endorphins and revitalise the body.

Alpamare is also proud to offer care-focused treatments for those who need it most. Two of our therapists are trained in providing Jennifer Young Spa Treatments, designed for people living with or recovering from cancer. These safe, gentle therapies use specially formulated oils that won’t interfere with chemotherapy, offering comfort, relaxation and the healing power of touch in a supportive environment.

Whether you're chasing thrills at Flamingo Land or seeking rest and renewal at Alpamare, both destinations offer unforgettable experiences for every kind of visitor. From fun-filled family adventures to peaceful moments of wellbeing, there's something truly special waiting for you on the Yorkshire coast. So, pack your bags, bring your sense of adventure, or your need to unwind and come see for yourself what makes these attractions so loved.
