Speak up now to guide growth until 2045

With just days left to have your say, residents and businesses are being urged to take part in one of the most significant consultations to date.

The new Local Plan will guide how and where homes, jobs and infrastructure and green space are developed across the county up to 2045 and your views are vital.

Our executive member for open to business, Cllr Mark Crane, said: “This plan will build on North Yorkshire’s natural capital, strong local economy and resilient communities to improve the way services are delivered and support the good quality of life we have here.

“We want to get views from a cross section of the community and stakeholders on what the Local Plan should contain and the overall strategy for where new homes and jobs should be located.”

The Local Plan will replace existing policies from former district and borough councils and bring in a single, countywide approach to development and conservation. It will also support healthy communities, protect historic landscapes and help tackle climate change.

The consultation focuses on key issues such as housing needs, economic growth, transport and infrastructure.

Everyone is encouraged to contribute from residents and community groups to landowners and businesses.

To guide the conversation, we have developed a series of questions for you to answer.

Make sure your voice is heard by taking part in our online consultation before midnight on Tuesday 15 July.
